Matariki
This is traditionally celebrated by gathering with you whanau (family) to reflect on the past. This is also connected to the stars. The stars give our families the opportunity to learn a little something about there whakapapa (genealogy) and there ancestors.This is usually celebrated with you family. but it can also be celebrated with your friends and kura (school)Because its a time for you families to reunite. And its important agriculture.
For the ingenious people of NZ the coming of matariki symbolize the harvesting season in which Maori can go out and harvest
